Demolition is now underway at PortMiami to make way for a new signature cruise terminal for Royal Caribbean.

The old Terminal G is being demolished to make way for the new complex.

The new Terminal G will serve Royal Caribbean and its other brands, including Celebrity Cruises.

It will able able to accommodate up to 7,000 passengers, and Icon-class ships. Annual passenger count at the terminal is expected to increase from 600,000 to 2.1 million.

Construction will also include a new nine-level parking garage with 2,148 spaces, and a ground level transportation area.

Miami-Dade’s Commission is scheduled to vote on a $345m design-build contract for Terminal G with  Lemartec-NV2A Joint Venture at a July 16 meeting.
