1,200 Resort-Style Homes Coming to Florida

Florida resort-style homes are expanding once again as a major new residential community takes shape in one of the state’s fastest-growing regions.

A new housing development is planned for a rapidly growing area of Sarasota County, where homebuilder Taylor Morrison has closed a land deal for its latest resort-style project. The community, Esplanade at Cammaray, will be located between University Parkway and Fruitville Road, east of a future extension of Bourneside Boulevard. According to the company, the development will include 1,200 single-family homes, condominiums and villas, marking a significant addition to the area’s housing supply.

It will be the third Esplanade-branded community developed within Lakewood Ranch. Sales at Esplanade at Cammaray are expected to begin in 2027, according to Taylor Morrison. “Bringing a third Esplanade community to Lakewood Ranch is really special,” said Cammie Longenecker, president of Taylor Morrison’s resort lifestyle brand. “This is where Esplanade began, and the lifestyle we have created, rooted in holistic wellness, has proven to be desirable.”

Esplanade at Cammaray is planned as a gated neighborhood offering a range of resort-style amenities. These will include a large pool and spa, pickleball courts, a dog park, and an event lawn designed to support community gatherings and outdoor activities.

There will also be a multi-use trail system weaving through and around environmentally protected wetlands. The trails are expected to connect with the broader network already in place throughout the surrounding Lakewood Ranch area, reinforcing the community’s emphasis on outdoor living and wellness.

About the builder and other communities

“With a prime location in the final phase of Lakewood Ranch, residents can look forward to thoughtfully designed homes, exciting resort-style amenities, and curated wellness experiences that make every day feel like a vacation,” said Andrew Sorensen, president of Taylor Morrison’s Sarasota division. He noted that the amenities will be similar to those at Esplanade at Azario, though without a golf component.

In addition to Esplanade at Cammaray, Taylor Morrison plans a second nearby development. That project will feature approximately 200 townhomes located outside the gated Esplanade community on an adjacent parcel of land, according to the news release.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, Taylor Morrison’s Esplanade brand now spans more than 30 communities nationwide, reflecting growing demand for lifestyle-focused residential developments across multiple markets.

Details such as a community site map and home pricing have not yet been released, with additional information expected closer to the start of sales.
